Add a highly collectible piece of global history to your home with this antique Korean soban (traditional low tray table). Dating to the late Joseon period (turn of the 20th century), this specific style is known as a hojokban due to its distinctive, outward-curving "tiger legs." It features a 12-sided faceted top finished in a rich, traditional red lacquer.
Originally used as a portable, individual dining or tea tray, it makes a breathtaking plant stand, riser, or low accent table today. It is constructed with traditional pegged mortise-and-tenon joinery and features an authentic hand-brushed ink cipher on the raw wood underside.
Authentic antique condition. It displays a heavy, gorgeous patina from over a century of use. The red lacquer shows extensive surface wear and distressing, revealing the warm wood beneath. Please note: As shown in the detailed photos, there is an older, very clean historical repair where a small section of wood on the underside apron was replaced. The table remains structurally sound.
